DAN 24/7

DAN 247 website applications

DAN 24/7 is the free, bilingual drugs and alcohol helpline in Wales. Hosted by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, the DAN 24/7 website provides detailed information and advice about drugs and how to get help

Help was required to develop a new DAN 24/7 website to be accessible to more people than it currently is, through ease of access on the website itself, making it easier to navigate through the information and different pages on the site. This also includes having the website available on mobile.

Betsi Cadwalader University Health Board also need the website to be accessible to the professionals, providing access to a forum based on the website, which is secure and only those with a login will have access to it.

As well as this, the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board needed a new database to hold and manage the directory of search results available to users.

We designed and built a new website for the helpline to make it easier for users to navigate and find important information more quickly. The website is fully bilingual (Welsh and English) and built with accessibility in mind. We approached the website by putting the users front of mind, adding value and functionality that would assist those in need. An example of this is the ‘hiding’ tabs functionality available on the side of every page that changes the screen quickly to another different screen when needed.

The website is built to be responsive on all screen sizes, as well as being fully multilingual and accessibility friendly. Being accessible was especially important and the design has been created in line with the web content accessibility guidelines.

We also created a brand new database that improved their existing database as well as future-proofed the procurement, as the new database is now owned by BCUHB.
