cARTrefu (Age Cymru) – Website

cARTrefu is Age Cymru’s flagship arts in care homes project that has been running since 2015, with funding from Baring Foundation and Arts Council Wales. The aim of the project is to improve the provision of creative activity in care homes and develop an artist’s skills in running these sessions.

We were asked to build a new bilingual website, which included a forum with a log-in feature. The project also needed functionality that allowed users to download items, view PDF documents and view videos at ease.

We designed and built a website for cARTrefu and approached this project as an accessibility centric piece. The design team made sure to use large, clear fonts where possible as well as designing clear navigation and buttons.

The forum has been built on a separate subdomain to avoid overlap with the main website. This feature is completely bilingual and uses a shared feed for topic sharing.

The website itself was built in WordPress due to its user-friendly interface flexibility and scalability in future.

Together, this gave the cARTrefu project a purpose build bilingual and accessibility friendly website, that’s also built for the future.
